The Car Exchange Of Fayetteville
Car fall apart, Rip Off Military

June my husband was deployed to Iraq. We had been looking for a reasonably priced SUV for some time for our growing family. We came across The Car Exchange of Fayetteville and saw some decently priced SUV's on their website. Both my husband and I were in the car business prior to him joining military.

I was a little skeptical about going alone, as a woman, anyone seemed to take advantage just for that simple fact. Well, I found the SUV we had been looking or, a Explorer, Eddie Bauer edition. We worked for FORD and knew they were pretty good cars if maintained. The miles were decent and the price was right. Ending up paying 12,900, putting 5500 down and adding the 2 year 24,000 warranty, THANK GOD!!!

All the paper work was signed, I drove the SUV home, about 12 miles. My neighbor was outside and wanted to check it out. THIS is where the problems began. I opened the back hatch to put the 3rd row up, to my surprise the whole back window and hatch fell into my arms, dangling by 1 screw. My neighbor (a lady) and I had to hold the back end of the car, for an hour and a half until one of the salesmen got to my house, mind you it was only 12 miles away! They rigged it up so I could drive it the next day back to have it fixed. Ok.

It took them almost 2 months on top of the fact to get my permanent license plate. I was driving on an expired temporary tag, illegally.

One month later (July), I drove home to FL for the summer with my son, while my husband was still deployed to Iraq. The SUV swerved uncontrollably all over the road and would not stay in one lane. Took it to FORD. FORD had it for 9 days. Every tire was rotted, 1 even had very bad erosion. The front tire rods were completed rotted, rusted and broken. It went back in a week later for even more problems.

I have had the car for only 12 months and including everything listed above we've had: The front and rear tire rods replaced, front ball barings, back ball barings, back up sensor, transmission rebuilt (the transmission shifters were in shreds), emergency brake boots replaced, and a few other repairs I can't think off the top of my head. Brakes and rotors are next. AND now the car is stalling while we are driving. Engine on its way out now too?

*TO DATE our repairs have come to a total of $7,209 and will be another $2,000. We were told by FORD after these next repairs our vehicle could be considered as totaled and the warranty company will cancel our warranty (who could blame them) Are SUV won't even pass inspections because of these issues.

As a woman and as a wife of a Hero, and military family, I feel violated and completely taken advantage of and KNOW we are not the only ones who have been done wrong by this place. I want people to ALWAYS ALWAYS demand the carfax and take their vehicle to a mechanic prior to buying from anyone, especially this company! It's disgusting. I requested it several times and never received one. These people should not be allowed to sell vehicles like that and the warranty company shouldnt warranty this companies vehicles either!!!
