I purchased a used 2003 Ford Ranger Edge V6 3 liter 5 speed manual transmisson, 6700 miles from Toyota of El Cajon Sept 20.
Amoung other things I wanted to be able to tow a ski boat. That's why I asked the salesman to provide the tow capacity information before I made my final decision to purchase.
The salesman, the Internet salesman choose to go the Internet for the information (4100#) which turned out to be incorrect. Real value from Ford's Owners Manual is 2660#.
Anyway based on a tow capacity of 4100# given to me by the salesman I made my final decision to purchase the truck.
After installing an aftermarket tow hitch and alarm (I really liked this truck) I discovered the actual tow capacity of 2660# stated in the owners manual. This is with the truck empty and no passengers. Add a payload and a passenger and the tow cap goes down accordingly. Not enough tow capacity to tow the boat I want.
I asked the dealership to take the truck back and refund my all my money. I think they have acted fraudulently, which qualifies me for a refund. They refused. They claim they cannot be held responsible for information that comes from third party websites.
I disagree. They have admitted in so many words that they are aware inconsistencies exit on certain websites that they use yet they used this information anyway to sell me a truck.
I have been ripped off.
