Complaint / Review
John Chezik Honda
My Bait & SwitchRip-off

They started with a really high price advertised online for something like 4,980. Well, It happens that when I called it was $3980.. That's cool I thought. Then Dave, the salesman says, well I got some more cars here in the back, you should come on out and see me I can make you a good deal. Here I
am wanting to buy a good reliable car with a one time payment.

So, the next morning I decided to go look at the car for 3,980. I found myself at John Chezik Honda, just atop a hill down North Oak Trfcy. Just before North Kansas City. A Nice Reputable Place. I thought. I had previously purchased a new car just over a year ago. The sales lady was really nice, her name is Kim. She worked out a good deal for me. She no longer works there. So, I'm looking for the 1990 Integra I had found online. I found it and well, as it turns out. When I got there the car was $4,980.in the back was a car with a blown engine and another car they could not sell for some bogus reason I can't remember. He insisted that the car was worth every penny and they could not let it go for less. I was hesitant to purchase the car, as I thought it was a high price.

What influenced me it more to buy it was that It's been all looked at and everything is great The guys in the shop
checked it all out. He said... Other things like Well how do you know that car down the street has a new timing belt and mechanically excellent? Came up too.

I ended up paying 3,189 and Trading my 1988 Acura Integra in. The car I traded was pretty run down, but everything worked and had a brand new exhaust system. Part of the deal was to and specifically stated remove cd player and speakers from 88 and return to the customer.

Since the speakers were new I wanted to keep them. They said no problem. Well I went home with my new car. Within a couple of days, I started noticing some problems. I called David and he insisted I bring it in. This was Wed. When I talked to him. I then asked if the speakers had been pulled from the 88 and he said no. I told him that it would be no problem for me to just do it, but I could not be there until Sat. As promised I went there Sat. To get the car looked at and to pick up my speakers. I had the CD player already, so I figured they would follow through with their deal.

: My day at the dealership:
I got there and talked to David to inform him I was there. I asked about the speakers, he said the car was gone. I said, ok. Then where are my speakers? He told me that I should have gotten them sooner, that we can't just have junk sitting around for five days and I shouldn't expect it to still bethere. This upset me as it was part of the deal, on paper! He then told me that I needed to talk to Steve (his manager) about getting my car looked at. We walked to the back and I grabbed the mechanic to give a quick look at my car. The problem was that both front springs had broken, completely from their location. The mechanic then told me that It was common on those cars. I understand that but Had this car been looked over, I'm pretty sure you could spot this problem, even If they were not completely busted at purchase.

They could not prove to me that they were good, because they never looked at them. And while I'm on that topic. Let me tell you what the mechanic said... He told me that nobody checked anything on the car. But he did drive it. But only drove it.
Then he told me why it shakes during acceleration, a problem I noticed about the 2nd day I had it. He knew exactly what it was from his test drive. It's the inner CV Joints he said. I asked him why he did not fix it and the reason he gave was that they told him not to. I guess they just wanted to make sure the car would roll down the road and figured that was good enough to buy. So, The mechanic told Steve that the car need to be fixed right away, as it was not safe. Steve jumped on that one, seeing how the car was sold to me in such great shape. Steve then proceeded to make calls and get the parts. Etc. So, I asked Steve about the speaker situation and he told me to talk to David about any deals we worked out.

Well I found that strange, because David told me to talk to Steve. I told Steve that David needed to get over there to talk with us as it was necessary to straighten this out. He called for David from across the room. David then calls Steve on his phone, not sure what they talked about but had a hunch it was about what he did not want to confront. We went to Davids' desk and he demanded it was my fault and insisted my argument was a waste of my time and Why am I complaining about a pair of $30 speakers when we're fixing your car free?

Well, now I'm insulted!!! Dave told me i must provide the piece of paper saying that they owed me 4 speakers still. As he asked, I got the paper out and then Steve started inWell, weren't you out there when they pulled the CD player? Yes, I said then his remark wasWell, why didn't you tell them to get the speakers out? I told them that it was not my job to tell their employees what to do. True correct? Beside the point, It wasn't even on the 88 that I was there. So They gave me a new car to drive for a couple days until my car got fixed. How nice of them!

It's now Tuesday and I got my car back. Steve told me that it would ride kind of rough at first, but not to worry about it. New springs they said... I called the place where the work was done and got a different story from them. They didn't know it was a sold car and replaced the springs with ones
from a junked car and told the John Chezik Rep. (Assumably Steve) that they did not replace the struts, which the junked ones are bad, and Steve was told to sit on it and see how it worked out

Well, Steve sat on it no longer to call to tell me to pick it up. The place servicing the car agreed for me to come in and they will replace the struts with the ones I had already at no charge, but once again Chezik was holding out on me. Our last conversation when I dropped the car off Steve said they would work on getting me some speakers. He offered me speakers from one of their cars in back, which would not compare to the two new sets I lost from their bad deal. So to wrap this up, I got sold an overpriced car with serious problems, lied to up and down, got ripped off from it and got treated unfairly the whole time.

I got no compensation for the speakers (a mere $30. No $177. Would be the correct answer) and I think if they would have spent more time following through with their promises and less time being deceitful and blaming others we could have had a good deal, unfortunately little effort was put into this deal.
