I own a 2003 Yamaha Roadstar Silverado with only 8700 miles on it. On October 29th I was riding along at aprox. 50 mph, when I heard a clink sound and 5th gear was gone just as if I put it in neutral. I went online to the forums and found that there have been many Roadstar owners who have had this same problem. Some have been repaired by Yamaha and others have not. I was told that a recall had been done in Dec. 2004 and if it was proven that it had actually been done that Yamaha would pay to fix it. That was on friday. Now on Tuesday I am told by the dealer that the rep said not to fix it as it was under a 1 year warranty only and now Yamaha is not liable for fixing it. Even the dealership said that Yamaha should fix it because it doesn`t have very many miles on it and it is obvious that it is a Yamaha defect. I have been trying to contact the customer rep at Yamaha in California but she won`t even take my call or return my call. I feel that I am getting the runaround from Yamaha and I don`t have the money to fix it (being on a fixed income) which means I am left with a useless motorcycle I can`t ride or even sell. I need help with this situation. Please
