On June 9; I met with a salesman at Mac Haik Ford. I was interested in several models, but decided that I wanted to price an F250 Pickup and F150 Pickup. The salesman said he was "new" to sales. He sure seemed pretty experienced and savvy.
I asked him to give me his best price, as I had priced F150's at other dealerships. He said he thought the rebate was $2,500. I told him I had $3,000 cash and no trade.
The salesman said he would have to see the manager and come back with a price. I love this ripoff technique. He comes back to inform me they only have $1,500 cash back but can get me a price around $28,000. I had enough of the waiting game so I told him to fax me something at my office later, and I would get back with him.
I got back to my office and immediately called two other local Ford Dealers. They confirmed that the cash back (rebate) on Ford F150 Pickups was indeed $2,500. They both said they could give me a price on the same truck at Mac Haik for mid $25,000, before my down or any trade. This was over $3,000 less than Mack Haik.
