Consumer's Original Complaint: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW I was promise that the check engine light and drivers side window problem would be fixed at the time of purchase. While test driving the vehicle, the check engine light came on. I advised the saleman (James) of the issue. James had his mechanic (London) look at it and they said the check engine light needed to be reset because the battery had previouly been disconnected. I took his word and continued with the purchase. After leaving the car lot, (15 minutes later) the check engine light came back on. I called James immediately and was advise again to bring back the car next week to have the mechanic look at it again. Due to time constraints, James and I agreed that I could bring back the car next week to have the items fixed. I came back 6 days later, but first went to autozone to have the them pull the codes that said what the problem was with the car (check engine light). I went in armed with information and presented it to the mechanic (London), they kept the car for 24 hours and called me telling me it was fixed and that I needed to pay $100 to get the key. First of all, they did not disclose any information about cost before they "so called fixed it". Secondly, I refused to pay since it was promised the day of the sale that this and the window was to be completed at no cost when I purchased the car. I was told by James and London that I needed to speak to the owner Keith Price about the fee. I attempted to speak with Keith and was told he was gone until monday and to bring it in personally. They said there hands were tied and I could not pick up the car until the $100 was paid. They would not disclose Keith's cell # nor any information about how I could reach Keith. They just kept saying bring back the car on monday and speak with Keith. Since I put down a significant amount of money down to get the car, I went ahead and paid the fee to pick up the car. I drove home with no problem, the check engine light did not come on. The car sat in my garage for 5hrs and when I went to put gas in it, the light came back on. I immediately called the dealership and requested to speak to James. James answered and advised me to bring the car in monday to be fixed again! During the conversation, James asked me why didn't I speak to Keith because he was in. I asked James to give the phone to Keith, but Keith refused to pick up the line. I called backed and as luck would have it, Keith answered the phone. At first, I was respectful and polite but Keith refused to refund my $100 and I refused to bring back the car to be fixed since they were unable to fix it two times prior. Apparently the mechanic replaced the O2 sensor but according to the codes and information from autozone, that was only one issue that causes the check engine light to come on. Since I could not get a acceptable respond and refund from Keith, I became irrate and requested a refund of my deposit for the car back. Keith replied "Not going to happen". Keith became very nasty and eventually hung up the phone on me. Keith called me back two seconds later to threaten me. He advised me not to miss a car payment or he will repo the car. He told me not to bring the car back to be fixed. This business did not disclose a statement on what the cost would be to fixed the car. Also, they were to as James said, "make it right" when I purchased it. I was promised that the window and check engine light would be corected only to discover later that it was not authorized by Keith. Due to the condition of the car, I've refused to pay any more money towards the down payment and as a result, Keith Price repossed the car before the 1st payment was due. I've since filed a civil suit! Consumer's Desired Resolution: Since Keith's auto is unresponsive to customer issues, I request they either take back the car and refund my deposit of 1400.00 or permenately and correlty fix the check engine light issues and window as promised!
