Until recently, my credit was great and I never had a problem paying my bills off. For the past 6 months, I have been struggling due to slow business but I still had enough saved up to be able to pay my bills on time.
Earlier this year, I missed 2 payments for my car, so I called the Honda Financial Corp. And told them my troubles BUT that I would be paying, I would just be paying late. I had read that many companies will work with you if you just update them on the situation and let them know YES I will be paying soon. I only had $2,500 left to pay off the car, and up til then, I never gave a late payment.
At the end of the second month, after I mailed a payment in on Monday, I called them to let them know payment was coming since that 60 days was fast approaching (that is when Honda will repo your car). The customer service lady said that would be fine and that I would not have any more problems as long as they received the expected payment.
On saturday morning, 5 days after I paid, I went out and my car was GONE! I had a feeling that it was not stolen, that it was Honda. I called them to ask if they took it, and WHY since I had made up the payments. I called them and they were very rude, demeaning, and unhelpful. They treated me as if I were a useless and stupid child that did not understand what was going on.
I understand that in their position, they deal with many people that are irresponsible and rude to them, but I was completely civil and polite to them. They still need to consider each person as an individual and separate case.
They said that payments do take time to process and were not willing to help me with the situation at all. It was the most frustrating and unhelpful customer service I have ever received. They told me nothing could be done, and I had to wait 48 hours to pick up my car from a city that was 40 miles away.
I ONLY had $2,500 left to pay on the $30,000 car. You would think that they would be willing to work with you more as a customer. I will possible never buy a car from Honda again because of the treatment I received.
