August 3 me and my husband decided we needed a new car. We seen a commercial on the television advertising dependable cars at affordable prices. We packed up our 2 year old daughter and drove to J.D. Byrider. It was the worst mistake of our lives.

We chose a 1991 Chevy Corsica and had to pay an extra $850.00 on top of the car trade in but we were told it was one of the better cars on the lot. Very dependable they said. We left the lot feeling very happy thinking this was going to be a great experience.

The car started to stall out the very first day we got it. My husband did an oil change, tune up, put on new filters and did a little extra TLC on it. Well, we had it towed to their service department on the third day because it broke down and I had to walk to work. Within the first year the car was towed a total of five times due to it breaking down.

After taking the car to a mechanic besides JD Byriders service department we found out the car was wrecked before it was sold to us and should have never been resold. After contacting the manager who was there at the time we were disappointed to hear him tell us that the car was our problem now.

With all the fees thrown together we owed $11,206.00 for a car to sit in my driveway because it never ran. I was never late or missed a payment, even when I had to ask my friends and family for a ride to go make my car payment.in 3 years we put a total of 16,000 miles on the car (thats roughly 460 miles a month) and over $1,300.00 worth of work not including the receipts I didnt keep but should have and the car still to this day does not run.

I stopped making payments on the car in Feburary. I refuse to pay for a car that does not run and hasnt ran for two years. Not to mention the fact that my husband lost his job because he had trouble making it to work, NO CAR.

We contacted Tim, the new manager, in April to see what could be done. He agreed to help because he was all about making happy customers, 100% satisfaction is what they advertise. He towed the car to their service department at his expence. My husband explained to them that he already had the car inspected and the only thing wrong with it THIS TIME was it needed a new head put on. They called back after a week and said it they needed $900.00 for a new motor. Which Tim was willing to split the cost with us, $450.00 out of our pocket. My husband told them no. They called back a few days later and said we were right its only the head that they now needed $400.00. Tim was also willing to split this with us, $200.00 out of our pocket but they could not garantee the car would run more than a week or month. We told them we are not putting no more money into this car. We felt if Tim was willing to put $450.00 in the first time he could put the $400.00 in now, we spent enough money on it only to run into more problems.

The last time my husband had called to speak to Tim we were told he did not have time for this and hung up the phone on us.
We still refuse to make any more payments on the car even though we have CNAC calling everyday and we also told Tim to keep the car we no longer want the headache.

I have had three family members who have also bought quality junk from JD Byrider and we have all gone out of our way to warn unsuspecting hardworking families not to purchase a car here. I wish someone would have warned me.
