Car Hop
Scam scam scam

I had the pleasure of dealing with carhop almost a year ago. My car had died, I don't have good credit and they seemed the best option for me. So, after 3 hours and giving up the names and phone numbers of 15 friends and family, I was shown my new "I think 2001 or 2000" Plymouth Neon. My test drive consisted of driving up and down the alley by the store. On the drive home on the highway, I noticed that the speedometer did not work, and in turn, the odometer did not work. The next day on my way to work the check engine light came on. So I drove back (it was a saturday) to the dealership and they said I would need to call the service department, which opens at 10 on Monday. So I drove around for 2 days with no speedometer, odometer and an engine light on. I called Monday and they scheduled an appointment for wed. To make a long, long story short, I ended up going to 3 different shops because the problem had been diagnosed before, and they never fixed it. They sold me the car knowing it had these problems. While in at the last shop, the mechanic called me at work and informed me that I also needed a new transmission, new clutch, new tie rods, and some gear differential thing. Since that episode, my entire brake system failed at the tune of over $1000, and now the front wheel bearings and CV joints are trashed and need to be replaced. I have called the warrenty department and have asked for phone numbers of people I could talk to about this and they give me numbers that are disconnected or no longer in service. I have written the company multiple times and surprise! No answer.
Please please please never even set foot in this company. It sounds like a lifesaver, but the cost of the anxiety, stress, headache, not to mention money is too much. I will not drive on highways anymore with this car, I practically have an anxiety attack every time I get in it to drive to work. I am sure that most people will say well you should have done your homework, you should have had the car checked out before you bought it, and buyer beware, and they are right. I should have, and this is a HUGE mistake and I will be paying for it for the next 2 years. I owe over $5000 on a car that I recently had appraised for $750. Please don't let this happen to you.
