I took my 2002 Toyota Rav4 to the dealership on 6/27/08- harsh shifting. I was told there was a problem with the auto transmission and it would cost thousands to fix it. Told O.K. To drive it with very harsh shifting (told O.K. For a long time). Was told there were no recalls, bulletins, etc. For this vehicle. Diagnostic code= P0755 from computer check on that date.
Problems with harsh shifting worsened, took it back to dealership on 11/28/08. I did find a TSB - (code - P0755) technical service bulletin # TC002-06 from 3/06. Presented the TSB to the service department - they acted surprised - said they haven't heard of any problems with 2002 Rav4. Asked the service manager why this TSB wasn't referenced back in 6/08. The entire dealership had no explanation for this - 'was just overlooked'. Note - this entire 'fix' under the Toyota Federal Emissions Warranty would have completely covered this repair.
I feel that this dealership intentionally withheld critical information from me. I think that the reason that this happened is that this dealership is trying to collect 100 % real money from us - the unsuspecting consumers, instead of collecting a percentage on the warranty money as referenced above.
I am done with this dealership.
