I took my car in for an oil change. The mechanic torqued the pan plug too hard and stripped the pan. Result: new pan and several hundred dollars. The damage was called to my attention by the Firestone store at the beginning of my next oil change which was 3500 miles later. I subsequently showed the proof to the Union store and they "circled the wagons" thus refushing to fix their mistake.
I am in the process of taking them to small claims court however, I need to know if the person who runs the station is a independent contractor and if so responsible for the employees under him. Tosco does own the property however, I am attempting to find out if the employee checks are written by this employer or by Tosco? What is typical?
