My debit card number was recently stolen. The person proceed to charge $485 at a gas station. Union Bank flagged this sale as possibly fraudulent and froze my account WITHOUT COMMUNICATING WITH ME. Much to my chagrin, I discovered this while attempting to purchase something—my card was declined. I checked my account online and I saw the charge (lets note again NO communication from Union about this) and called the bank. After three (!) calls where three entirely different processes were explained for me (lots of "our policy lalalala" I finally got to put in a claim. This will apparently take 45 days to investigate. Meanwhile the "thief" (who was proabably the gas station owner or employee) was allowed access to my $.
Union Bank is wretched!
