Purchased 2000 Buick Century on 1/18/03 from Drive Time, Grand Prairie, TX. Realized I would have to pay ungodly interest rates because of credit situation. I accepted that.
However, on February 1, I was checking the fluids in my car and noticed this "funky" looking appearance in my radiator resivoir. I took the cap off and noticed that it did not look right. I had my significant other come look at it and he noticed immediately that it was oil. Took the car to 2 other mechanics where one removed the radiator cap from the radiator. The cap was covered in oil. He brought the cap to me and instructed me to immediately call the dealership. He told me I had some serious problems with the car.
I immediately contacted the dealership where the manager told me to park the car it would be Monday before they could do anything. So, here I sit today, being Monday, February 3. Haggling with the "Collections Department, " at Drive Time. Because after thinking about what has transpired with the car, and the dealership, I have decided that I don't want to do business with Drive Time. They either did not check that vehicle out prior to placing it on their lot, or they knew it was bad and put it out there on the lot anyway.
Therefore, I am demanding they give me my cash down payment back in full. I would like to also have my trade-in back, but have already been assured, that isn't possible. Luckily for me, I am accustomed to having to check under the hood of my car about every 2 or 3 days and discovered the situation prior to the warranty running out or the car breaking completely down.
They have yet to agree to my demands on the return, in full, of my down payment, much less return my trade-in. But am going to pursue this to the bitter end. People in my position can not afford to make a car payment on a car that is inoperable.
