A settlement amount which was agreed upon by the company and myself has now been changed back to the original amount. The account representative who initially set up the account no longer works for the company.
Initially, I was told that after receipt of the first payment, the company would mail me a statement showing the amount of the settlement minus the payment received and that subsequent statements would me mailed on a monthly basis showing the balances after receipt of payments.
The first two statements mailed to me did not show the settlement amounts so I telephoned the company to inquire as to why. I was told that the settlement amount had to be paid in one installment.
I explained that this was not the ageement made. I specifically asked the original rep if payments received from me on this account would be deducted from the settlement amount and her response was yes.
I was told by this rep to take it or leave and not waste his or my time discussing this account. Also, he stated that if I wish ti void this contract that he would come after me for the entire amount due in one payment which be devastating to me. He also said that $10,000 won't make or break his company so the choice was mine.
I don't have thousands of dollars to settle this account which I made the company aware of during the initial interview and I feel that this company should honor the initial agreement made between us. I need your help to advise me of my rights. Thank You.
