Went in for a oil change and oil fiter replacement. Never asked for them to check the cabin air filter, but they did. Granted the filter was dirty. Asked them for the cost of the filter and was told $69.99. I said that was a high price for a cardboard filter and was told that it was a very expensive item. I agreed to the installation which took less than a min. To install. Went home and looked up the cost of the filter from the toyota dealer. Retail it would have cost me $19.95 so it probably cost them less than $15.00.
The end result is, express tune-up clinic charged me $50.00 to install a $19.95 filter which service I didn't ask for in the first place. Anyone, with even limited mechanical ability can do this service themselves, its just a matter of removing the old one and dropping in the new one. I called and asked if they would rectify the over charge and they would not. I said " then you won't be seeing me in here anymore" they could care less. I had two cars serviced there and also used them for the emissions tests. Not only will i not go back there but will tell all my family and friends about this ripoff.
