I approached leasetrader in order to transfer my lease to any interested person. After discussing with them I learnt that I would need to charge $ 85.95 in order for my vehicle to be listed on their website. I agreed. However after getting off the phone with them, I called my leasing company to clarify a couple of issues about this arrangement only to discover that my leasing company does not allow transfers in the manner that leasetrader had described to me.
According to my leasing company, I would still remain responsible for the lease even if someone else took over and would be held accountable if they failed to keep up the payments. Leasetrader did not tell me that. I quickly called leasetrader and backed out upon which they said that I would forfeit my payment. I was shocked and disappointed when I called my credit card company disputing this charge, Leasetrader has responded with threats about collection agents, attorney fees and sending my information as a delinquent account to all credit agencies. They have also added an extra $ 35 claiming to be a charge from the credit company because I have disputed this charge.
Leasetrader is dangerous and I warn everyone to stay away! I just wonder what else I could do since I cannot find any more information about how to solve my situation.
