Charge money for services not received!

So, I joined leasetrader.com for free maybe 6 months ago. I found a couple of cars I might have been interested in, so I paid the $29.95 to be a "credit approved buyer". This allowed me to view the seller's contact information. I contacted a couple of sellers and nothing came of it. On June 10, I received an e-mail from leasetrader stating that I completed a lease transfer and my credit card would be charged $249.95 for the transfer fee. Imagine my surprise, as I HAD NOT obtained a car from a lease transfer!

I called to ask them about the charge and again, I was told that I completed a lease transfer. I asked them where they received this information and they said one of the seller's called them to take the car off of the website because they had transferred the car to me! I asked them to give me the name and number of the seller and they said they could not reveal that information. (So, I supposedly took over someone's lease, but they couldn't give me their name or phone number!) Fine, so I asked them again to provide proof that I took over the lease and leasetrader told me that the seller called to take the car off the website because the seller decided to keep the car. I reminded him that he told me just 10 minutes before that the seller told them that I took the lease over and he had no response. He said he wasn't the one who spoke to the seller, but he would connect me to that person. A woman got on the phone and told me that they have notes that say that I took over the lease. Again, I asked for proof. She told me she didn't have to prove anything to me. Then - this is the best part - she told me that since I was the only one who contacted this seller about the car, that I MUST be the one who took the lease over. So, basically leasetrader assumed that I took over the lease beacause I was the only one who inquired about the car. I, again, asked her for proof that I took over the lease and she hung up on me! I called back, but no one would speak to me about the issue.

Leastrader.com is a scam operation. Their website does list real cars, but they charge fees for processes that don't even occur!

I have used swapalease.com in the past to get out of a car lease and had absolutely no problem.

I have since filed a complaint with the BBB in Florida, disputed the charge on my credit card and filed a police report for fraud.

Beware of Leasetrader.com!!!
