My husband and i bought a 1997 Ford truck through Household Automotive.
We paid on it for 4 years at 470.00 a month. When we bought the truck it was for financed for 17,000.00 and after paying all these payments, which are not small payments.
We were late and so they sent us a statement showing that we still owed 16,000.00.
So i contacted them and ask them how could they get i owed them 16,000.00 after paying almost 4 years on this truck at 470.00 a month.
Their reply was because we were late on our payments that all the money we had paid went towards interest.
At which time i was totally a nervous wreck because at this rate we could never pay this company off.
So i called them again and tried to work with them explaining to them that there was no way this could be right and their reply was yes it was and there was nothing i could do but pay for the truck until i got it paid off.
So i told them that i could not and would not pay them all this money all over again. So they could just come and get the truck because it was nothing but a rip off.
So they said ok we will come and get it then and so they came and picked the truck up.
Then shortly there after i received a letter from them stating the account had been charged off.
Then guess what they called my mom and because she was elderly told her that i had applied for a loan and was approved and they needed to get ahold of me. But they didn't have the right phone number so mom not knowing who they were or what they were up to gave them my phone number.
So they called me and said that they had auctioned the truck off and i still owed them 8,000.00 and if i didn't pay it then they had a suit out against me and my husband and they were going to attach on his wages at work.
But we could settle out of court. At which time i told her lisen lady we have already paid you people almost 20,000.00 on a 17,000.00 loan and now you have the truck and you still want 8,000.00 more and she said exactly. Pay it or you and your husband will be garnished. At which time i explained to her i didn't even work and she said well you are still responsible.
So as of right now we don't know what they are going to do next.
What can we do? We don't have nothing else we can give them.
Is there no end to this dirty company. My gosh how much more money do they want from us. They got the truck all the payments and that still isn't enough.
Somebody definately needs to protect consumers from rip off company's like this. They are the biggest rip off to claim to be a honest and good company.
All consumers beware. They will rob you without having to have a gun and they can get away with it too.
