Brought my car to have compressor replaced, was told job including tax was going to be $605.99. I went to pick up my car and the attendant ran the card through for $50.00 more than what I was quoted, and there was no additional work that needed to be done to the car.
The young gentleman that was working the counter couldn't explain why the charge was more than what I was told. He placed two calls to the owner of the gas station (Dan) who was the one that gave the price for the job. He couldn't get him on the phone, but said that he would probably call back right away. I waited for about 10 minutes and still no call back. The charge had already been rung through, and I needed my car for work the next day, so I figured that it would get straightened out the next day.
As I was walking out of the shop, the phone rang, and the attendant picked up the phone and it was Dan. He explained the situation, then said I already rang her card through. Then he said, yeah, ok and hung up. He said to me: " Dan is too busy to talk to you right now, he'll call you in the morning.". This totally infuriated me and I told the attendant to tell Dan I expected a call first thing.
The next morning, the call never came. I had to call Dan who was so rude and condescending. If something extra had to be done and I truly owed the money, I would have been fine. He could provide no explanation as to why the charge was more except to say that he never quoted a price, even though I had a business card in which the quoted price was written on.
In the end, he did give me the $50.00 back, but not without a hassle.
The A/C is still not running right. So I against my better judgement, I called Dan and made arrangements to leave the car for a full day so he could fix it. If money were not tight right now, I would have brought the car somewhere else, but I felt I shouldn't have to pay twice for the same work.
I called Dan at lunchtime and he told me the car was fine and the A/C was running perfectly and he had no problems with it, so I must have been imagining it. I picked the car up that night and it seemed to be fine. The next day, I started having the same problems where the air conditioner wouldn't work and just blow hot air.
I took the car to him first thing the next morning (Saturday) and when I walked into the shop, he just started shaking his head, and I told him that the car was still doing the same thing. He said I could leave it and he'd get to it when he could, since he had a lot of other jobs before me and was only working 3 hours and had to go out on an emergency call. I calmly tried to explain that I needed the car for work Monday and needed him to look at it now, that it should have been fixed right the first time. He said that I could sit there all day for he cared, but it wasn't going to get looked at. I asked if I had to bring it back on Monday if someone would be able to take me to work, or if he'd reimburse me for a rental, he called me a crazy bi*&h and said that it wasn't his responsibility. I pointed out that it was his responsibility to do the job that he got paid to do correctly. He told me I was f'd b/c he wasn't going to look at the car and said that there wasn't anyone who would look at the car on a Saturday. I again explained that I wasn't expecting service for a new problem on a Saturday but for the original problem to be fixed. He told me to take the car somewhere else and walked out of the shop.
I am still having the same problem and am out $606.00.
