This shop charged me over $6,000 to rebuild 914-4 Porsche engine that lasted less than 9,000 miles. This engine has totally failed and dispite the fact it was never raced or abused the shop owner still refuses to provide any kind of restitution. Other local Porsche shops that have actually seen both the engine and the rebuild invoice state that they are amazed to see how much I was over charged to begin with. They didn't believe it until I showed it to them. All I want is the return of 50% of the money I paid for the rebuild and an apology. After all, John the owner displayed quite a tantrum when I attempted to return the car for repairs. So far the only excuse that he has presented in his defense is that the 12-month warranty had expired. I don't know about Johnny but the Last time I checked problems associated with negligence were not affected by the warranty. Besides, to date I still haven't found the warranty that he was referring to (none on the invoice that I have). Also, he claimed that the engine's failure was most likely due to insufficiant lubrication and/or cooling (Hello!!! Sounds like rebuild to me). He was given several opportunaties to inspect the engine for himself after the failure but refused to do so.
