On 01-04-01 I paid over three thousand dollars for Wilkie's Tire and Automotive here in Cleveland Texas to rebuild and install a new motor in my Chevy 1 ton truck. Before contracting them to do the work I checked them out with the local B.B.B.
I was also given a six month six thousand mile warranty. Thirty two miles after I picked up my vehicle the engine blew up. At that time they towed the truck to their shop and I was told that they would replace the engine with another, and all would be fine.
After driving the truck for about three months and four thousand miles, I was on my way to Baton Rouge Louisana towing a car. The engine lost oil pressure and blew up for a second time.
After calling Wilkie's I was told that they would not pay for the tow from Louisana (this cost over seven hundred dollars) and they would not honor the warranty. They informed me that it was my fault that the engine lost all it's oil and water.
I had the vehicle towed to my local Chevy dealer, upon their inspection, I was informed that the engine blew up due to an improperly installed oil distender unit, as well as a failure in the cooling jacket within the engine block. (this I have in writing)
It will cost over five thousand dollars to repair the truck that is still sitting at the Chevy dealer. My losses are well over the small claims limit.
