I ordered the "ProScan Universal OBD-II Scan Tool w/USB Interface" from Gore Research. The product was defective, it caused a power surge in the USB port. I tested the tool with three different computers. Two computers shut down immediately when the tool was connected and had to be rebooted. The third computer displayed an error message that stated the USB device had "exceeded the power limits of its hub port".
I have attempted to contact Gore Research through their customer support site (http://www.gore-research.com/support/index.php) by filing a support ticket. There have been no replies. I have also attempted to contact the company through Paypal's Resolution Center. There have been no replies to this method of communication either.
