I have the complete AAA Towing card that includes motorcycles and Rv's along with a AAA insurnace policy on my vehicles. Today I called the 800 number and pressed 2 for Passaic county. Marie came on the line and i explained my vehicle was at a service center that is closed today and I needed it moved 1/2 mile to my home.
Marie said, John the supervisor said, we dont tow vehicles from service facilities when they are closed.
I explained that I limped the vehicle in there, that I own the vehicle, and I want it moved.
I asked Marie to direct my attention to that rule in writing in my insurance policy/towing packet and she could not.
I then called the designated auxillary AA towing company who quoted $95.00 for a half mile tow and had no issue with the repair facility being closed at this time.
I then called the 800 # back and advised them that I intended to utilize the same AAA tow service they would have used had AAA routed the tow to begin with and that I expected to be reimbursed for the full amount and Jenny who answered the phone this time could not assure me the money would be reimbursed at all.
It seems to me that AAA who take the money for an insurance policy to begin with and then sell the consumers on an AAA card with all the bells and whistles ought best rethink their policies on when and what they will tow and not make up the rules as they go along.
