My stegdaughter was in an accident the police came to the scene and called Vans Towing. A number of people offered to push it off to the side of the road out of harm's way.instead Vans Towing took the car to their storage yard which was aprroximately 1 and a half miles from the scene. There was no paperwork from van's towing given to my stepdaughter to indicate their rules or regulations. They charged me $105.00 for the tow and $15.00 a day for storage. This price for towing is absorbent on top of the storage.
The day of the accident we went to pick up the vehicle and they were conviently closed. The next day my wife went to get the vehicle and they refused not only for her to get the vehicle or the important things in it but would not even talk to her. Now on the 3rd day I went with the registration, license and insurance to pick up the vehicle and they wanted $150.00 in cash. Well this was after work and the banks were closed and Vans was about to close within 10 minutes.
My issues are that the price of the tow was totally out of line after calling other tow companies, there was no authorization given for them to tow it to their yard (why wasn't it towed to a collision shop), there was no paperwork given to my stepdaughter that indicates the price and that they accept cash payment only (and all the other hoops I had to jump through) and that I was not allowed to see my vehicle or get important papers out of my car.
