I went to Auto max of Melbourne to trade in a car that was fully paid off so that I could get a car a little bit roomier because I had a baby a few months prior. I explained to them that I am on a budget I would like an even trade or something that is not going to be too much over.
They eventually showed me a 2006 Suzuki Forenza which they told me the price was $8000 and some change and with my trade in the car would end up being $3775 worth in payments, so I signed on the dotted line and thats what we agreed upon. They asked me what monthly payments I could afford and i said no higher than $180 per month so they said done and thats also what i signed.
To summarize They have the bank call me for approval and I asked the bank told me a much higher amount financed so I asked the person well how much is the dealership saying they sold me the car for. The person said $12,000! Now, I'm already driving the car already registered it and everything and they have my trade in. I told the person no that is not what was agreed upon. Pretty much the bank did not want to help me and directed me to speak with the finance department at automax. I spoke with him and he told me that yes he told the bank $12,000 but he oesnt see what the problem is because i'm only financing $7000. I said to him thats not what we agreed upon. He pretty much gave me the run around.
Now, I am stuck with a car payment double per month what i agreed upon in the first place for the next 2 years, I regret doing business with them and I do not see how this is legal!!! I just want to be paying what I agreed to pay!
