This was my second trip back to this dealer after he sold the car I had told him I was coming to see. He told me the internet price was it, no negotiating, which I agreed to. He then tried to low ball my trade, we negotiated to a value less than I have been offered, but my Son wanted the car. I went in and we shook hands on the internet price and trade value. After a twenty minute huddle with Mike the Manager, he gave me the bill of sale and started quickly going down the charges.
I asked him to go back to the $1800. He said it was a standard recon fee that "the bank makes him charge". I asked for what and was told it's the cost of the 190 point inspection they do. Ten minutes ago he told me the car was being prepped and said nothing about any fee to the buyer for this. Then there was a $499.00 Motor vehicle fee for license plates. Once again this was new. I explained that I would transfer the plates from my trade. His response, "you have to pay this".
I asked to speak to the Manager, Mike, who arrogantly told me "that's the way we do business, if we can't do business I will sell it to someone else, as I sell 500 cars a month". So beware the price paid is not the price quoted or negotiated. I should have known as the place felt like a bunch of hustlers...
