Les Schwab Tire Centers
Ripoff like so many others on this web site

My issue with Les Schwab centers around the replacement policy of tires.

1 1/2 months ago I bought wild country txr traction tires and during normal driving one of the tires totally split and blew on the side bead line where the tread wraps around and stops... Causing my truck to go off the road and strike a cement barrier nearly causing a fatal accident.

Now the BS starts from Les Schwab... I take the totally defected (only a little over a month old, mind you... Less than 500 miles) tire back to Schwab to get a new one of course, and the sales geek (where do they get those big dumb bozo's? Anyway) give me a rap about the replacement policy and said that they couldn't give me a FULL replacement because the tire had 25% wear and wanted $65.00 prorated for a new replacement.

If this isn't the biggest loophole in the warranty of defected tires I don't know what is. I protested the policy on these points:

First I don't think they were honest about the tread wear and what should it matter how much treadwear is gone if a tire is totally defected and comes apart during the 1st couple of months of use under normal driving conditions.

The clerk also admitted that "he's seen hundreds of tires that have blown at the bead and the cause is low tire pressure"... So the clerk admits that the tires come apart and Les Schwab is still selling the tires??? What ever happened to business ethics?

Well low pressure sure wasn't my case as I always check the pressure and my new tire wasn't low on air...
That $65. Prorated replacement quote (I didn't bite on it by the way and I still have the blown tire to show the tech dept at the DOT) will be costly for Schwab in the end.

It seems to me that Schwab's policy is saying that the tires are no good and unsafe after 25% tread wear is gone. If that be the case lets let the nothewest know that Les Schwab is selling defected tires that have a more than average problems assocated with them, and put the CEO behind bars for these very scrupulous policies.
I wonder how many accident deaths have happned due to Les BS Schwab's tires... Remember Goodyear?
Schwab your NEXT.
