I brought my Passat in for an oil change. Three days later I was driving on the interstate when my engine shield dropped off. I drove straight to Bennys to let them know what happened. Bobby, the manager, accepted responsibility, letting me know he was brought in to help fix recurring problems. After they rigged a temporary attachment and review the car for additional problems, he said the shield was fine and we made arrangements to reattach the shield appropriately. I was informed me that there would be no problem driving the car and to give him at least 2 weeks.
Several weeks passed with no phone call. After several attempts to contact a manager and several months passing I brought my car in to the VW service department to have some work done. I was informed that (1) my engine shield was cracked and pins needed replacing and (2) one of the wheel housing covers was now rubbing against my tire due to improper lifting of the car (there was evidence of something there that VW does not use).
At this time I brought in a copy of the repairs to the day manager at Bennys. After receiving no call, I called the general manager AL ORTEGO and explained what happened. I faxed the information and once again received no call. When I called him 1 week later, he said that there was no formal file on what happened, that the manager I spoke with was fired or he could not find him and that there was nothing he would do. He also tried to blame me for not filling out having the proper paper work completed. I asked for the name of his boss or owner. He lied, telling me I could go no higher in rank, until I asked the name I should place on my small claims filing.
After he finally did speak with the owner they offered service totaling the amount of my repairs (about $300). Since they were offering me the same services that gave me these problems in the first place or from the same company, I denied. I decided to write owner JUSTIN ALFORD, directly, to try to handle the matter. I offered to speak with him and review every detail to get the information needed.in a letter he wrote that too much time passed, but thanked me for bringing the matter to their attention.
JUSTIN ALFORD and AL ORTEGO I do NOT find any sincerity in your efforts. This is definitely my most expensive oil change ever!!!
