Car Rental Insurance isn't worth the paper it is written on

Since I had already been ripped off by AMEX by charging me covereage for a Commercial Rental Van when they didn't cover it, I was happy to see Capital One provided free insurance rental coverage on their commercial cards. So I read the polidy and all the fine print, called them a verified that the insurance convered a pick-up truck rental. The only exclusions in the policy I have in my hand is a commerical van and luxury vehicles including some SUV's. So I carefully followed the instructions and rented a truck for two days.
When I returned the truck there was a slight dent in the top of the tail gate. There were other dents in the truck when I rented it including one of equal size on the side. The manager said she would call me if there was a problem. The only place I could think of the truck could have been dented was in the Turnpike plaza while we were inside using the facilities.
Four days later I get a letter from Enterprise asking me how I want to pay for the damages.
I called Capital One and was immediately transferred out to VISA insurance where a nice lady took the claim and said it would be refused because they do not cover trucks. I explained what I had from Capital One and she said, they still don't cover trucks.
I went back to Capital One and a man there read me the insurance policy that does not resemble the one I have nor the one he read to me three weeks ago, when I checked this.
Now I discover that Enterprise is self insured and that regardless of the amount of the damage, you are going to be charged 500.00 because that is the amount they deduct from the resale price of the vehicle to the branch office. I was just the idiot that didn't take their insurance and thus will be charged to cover all the damages to the truck. At least, that's what they think. I intend to file this report with every agency that will allow it and demand an independent insurance adjuster check the damage. I just wish I had taken a photo of the little dent.
Note, you may just want to photograph every inch of any rental vehicle before you remove it from their parking lot and when you return it.
