• We rented a truck on website to be picked up in Austin, TX 03/10 and returned to Olathe, KS 03/14 Confirmation #188155285214. We called our insurance company and was advised our policy would cover a rental truck up to 10,000 lbs. When we picked up the truck we asked the agent (employee: DELPB) did the truck weigh over 10,000 lbs. He said, in front of my daughter, that "a little under 10,000." Therefore, we did not take out the Budget's liability insurance because we were covered under our policy. The driver had an accident in Ft. Worth, TX when his foot slipped off the BARE metal brake pedal. After going through all the insurance hassle, Budget said the truck weighed close to 12,000 lbs. Therefore, our insurance now does not cover the claim of $3,468.97 Plus $510.00 administrative fee & lost time making a total of $3978.97. If the agent had advised us the correct weight of the truck we certainly would have taken their insurance. We rented the truck thinking we were fully covered on our policy. Due to the incorrect information given us by the agent we are stuck with a damage claim of $3468.97 PLUS administrative fees. The accident was due to a brake pedal that had no rubber on it. (We have photos displaying the pedal.) The reason we were not covered by insurance was due to incorrect information from the agent on the weight of the vehicle and a bald brake pedal. This is not correct! In the first place the rental agreement should state the weight of the vehicle. There would we NO mistake. Your clients would know what to do about the insurance.
