My wife and I financed a Ford Explorer from this Carmax in Jan 08. This is not against the Salesman, he was understanding and very helpful. This is against the service area of Carmax. According to our warrenty we have 30 days for any problems that might occur from structual. Then we have 3 yrs / 36 months for internal problems. Here's what happened about day 25 we were driving down the road and started hearing a grinding noise and an popping sound. Well like any other common sense person we automatically pull over and check the brakes. From what I could see there was enough padding left on it. So I drove it home slowly. Once I arrived at home I called Carmax and they told me that I could take it to Oklahoma City to their Carmax dealer to get it looked out. I mentioned that place is 2 hours away. Then they said I could have it towed at my expense. So then I asked what if a local dealership looked at it. The repersentative aggreed. I called the local dealership, and they said they could fix it. This was a Wednesday that we dropped it off. The dealership checked it out and determined that the Drums were bad and that the bearings in the rear Hubs were bad and faulty. So they fixed it in about 2 days. Come Monday the service dept at the dealership faxed the work order to the Houston Carmax. Now once they got it they supposeably sent it to Corparate Office in Virgina. Now this is next Thursday that I am writing this and I still am waiting on Corp Office or someone from Carmax to Fedex the check to the dealership to release our truck. I have been giving numerous numbers to Corp Office which of course they do not answer. No one has givin me a FEDEX Tracking Number. The Service Dept in Houston susspoably replaced the hubs and rotated the tires and replaced the brakes before selling it to me. The dealership said that the hubs were worn out and old, the brakes if I am lucky has about 8 thousand miles left on them. The alignment is off, the Tires are going to need replaced in about 3 months to 6 months. So to all those people out there ventureing to buy from Carmax, make sure ou physically check it out, ask if you can see the work order or service order done to the vechicule your about to buy. Request a copy so that if something goes wrong you have proof of when it was fixed.
