Sells worthless cars financed through Credit Acceptance

I bought a car from Automax in October. Had to finance it through Credit Acceptance. The dealer told me i had to take the warranty to get it financed so i agreed to take it (wynn's warranty high tech). The car, 98 mitsubishi galant, had 80,000 miles on it and ran good on test drive so i ended up signing the contract ad drove the car home (5 minutes away).

Two days later, check engine light comes on and i called the dealer. They told me to take it to their mechanic and give them the warranty information. Mechanic worked on the car and charged me for the labor and parts not covered by warranty plus my $100 deductible. Drove the car home and everything seemed fine.

The next day (saturday) the light came back on again. Mechanic closed on weekends so i call the dealer. Dealer tells me to take it back to the mechanic on Monday so i do. Mechanic works on car again and more money spent but this time just for parts.

Light comes back on 2 days later and at this point i'm irritated. I couldn't get the car to the shop for a little while because i had to work. The car ends up breaking down iny parents driveway on Thanksgiving (just as we were pulling in). Had the car towed to mechanic and they fixed the problem but theck engine light still remained to turn back on.

Call the dealer to try and take car back to him and either exchange for different vehicle or give me my down payment of $1500 back. Dealer wouldn't do either. Said they didn't have the control to cancel contract and only the finance company could do it. So we called Credit Acceptance and they said the dealer has to cancel contract. Told the dealer what CA said and he told me he wouldn't take the car back.

Spoke to a lawyer about this but it doesn't warrant the lemon law due to age of vehicle and it was used. The car has yet to pass inspection for emissions and i don't have the money for a new car or to fix it. Plus, i am still paying on the loan every month! It's ridiculous! I have no idea as to what to do now.
