This report reads very similar to the previous ones. Saw a 00 mustang on ebay, called to buy it now and they took my credit card for the deposit. Drove down from Austin to pick it up. Unfortunately, they were about to close so I had just enough time to test drive it and look it over as best I could. They were not real helpful with questions pertaining to the history and strong feelings that it had recently been painted? But, I thought it was a good deal and they convinced me they were to be trusted saying they sold "500" cars the previous month!
Now, the red flags start flying.in my rush I failed to notice it did not have an inspection sticker. Fine, just pray it passes, which it did. But the tech did inform me that the car looked to have been repaired and repainted. With further examination, sure enough, small chips in the original paint job have been painted over. The tech also alerts me to the fact the computer module looks to be tampered with. Now I can't help but wonder if those low miles are correct. 50k on a 2000? Another puzzling thing, the pad on the brake has been replaced with a metal plate, while the clutch pad is missing all together? There has been no real mechanical problems other than a small leak which I can not find the source.
The real problem has been the TITLE. I purchase the vehicle on October 3. It is now January 23. It is illegal to sell a car in Texas without the title and a licensed dealer has 20 days to supply the title. I have multiple temp tags, which the sale date continues to move to the corresponding date on the paper tag. Hummm... Sounds like they know they are in the wrong!
Communication is non-existent. When I call, I get sent straight to Ed's voicemail. I have talked to Ed once out of the 25 times I have called. He states that the TITLE is still in transit from the dealer, in Florida, the auction house bought it from. So the auction house also illegally sold a car to Texas Direct Auto, who in turn immediately sold it to me. The fact that the title is coming from Florida also sends up red flags of concern. States don't have the same criteria when it comes to wrecked/salvaged TITLES.
DO YOUR RESEARCH. There is a lot that can be done to a broke down used car to maximize profit!
Texas direct auto is not to be trusted. They continue to mislead and lie to my face. This place stinks of fraudulent commerce.
