I live in Ohio and purchased a warranty in May 17. I waited to receive my contract for about 2 weeks, but it never arrived at my home. Eventually I called to company to find out where the contract was. I was informed during the call that they no longer sold in Ohio. Meanwhile, my credit card had been debited $262.00 for the downpayment on the warranty.
I was told that the money would put back on the card in 4 to 6 weeks as many others were also told. I continually made calls about every other week inquiring as to when my money would be refunded. I was given a line everytime that it had to be approved by management like every return. I explained that this was money that they knew they were not to take and reversing the charge could be done very easily.
In late December I learned Warranty USA was in receivership and a judge would be making a ruling in January releasing returns. As I write this story, the date is 9/10/02 and I have yet to receive one penny or even a phone call initiated by them explaining or updating me to what is going.
I find it interesting that companies can get away with this kind of behavior, however when an individual does it, he or she is quickly thrown in jail
Thanks for your time.
