I purchased 52 inch Samsung LCD TV in july of 07 from HH Gregg and 5 year extented Warranty with GE Warranty. Spent a total of close to $4300.00 with HH Gregg $600.00 on warranty. April 30th my TV would not power up contacted HH Gregg and was forward to GE Warranty, who scheduled a repair tech out. The repairman took close to two weeks to come out and deemed the the panel was no longer good faulty part.
After several calls to GE warranty they explained part is two expensive to repair may have to replace my TV, but the wanted the tech to come back out to complete a procedure that Samsung wanted done to verify. June 9th Tech peformed the procedure and still come up with the same conclusion. Had to contact GE warranty said yes we will send you a check for $1668.00 to replace TV, requested explanation of where they were getting figures I could not replace my TV for that amount.
Since my TV was no longer made the were giving me figure on a comparble TV figures were from a shopdigital.com on a refurbished and used TV. I explained that I did not have a copy of my warranty and would like to review before anything further done I also requested the figures they were giving me in writing and they said that is not possible go to the web site. GE claimed they could not print a copy of my Warranty that I had to contact HH Gregg for that. Everytime I asked for a Supervisor I was transferred to no one or hung up on.
I called HH Gregg and was forward to their Home Office requested a copy be faxed to me said could not because it was a pamplet "hello has anyone every heard of a copier" Explained problem having with Warranty company and the Rep. From HH Gregg said "oh we have had several problems with GE Warranty and we no longer use them" She stated she would forward my complaint and I would hear back from a Manager. Guess what I have never heard from HH Gregg and it took me twice calling to get the Warranty pamplet mailed to me.
Back to GE Warranty I explained that I work in the Insurance Business and requested from a vendor quote for replacement cost on my TV they gave me a figure of around 2400, about 700 diffence from figure GE Warranty. When explaining this to GE there comment back to me is that they stand by there figures, so what was I to do? 06/23 I asked them to forward the check they said it would take 10 to 14 days. 07/02 I received a call from GE Warranty a problem with the check and I will not receive it in the 14 days I was promissed when I asked what the problem was I was told that it was not just me it affected hundreds of cosumers it was a glich in the system.
Called a week later still no update on the problem, called today 07/13 was told they were getting closer to fixing the problem but could not give me a date of when the check would go out. I am not asking for much just a TV that works, I have put well over of eighty hours of my own time either being on the phone writing down data and timelines of everything that has taken place. I will never purchase another thing with HH Gregg because once you are out the door with your product they no longer care about the customer, and as far as GE Warranty this company is nothing but a joke I have filed a complaint with the BBB, and hope that by writing this complaint I can keep a consumer from purchasing a warranty and using their product.
