On May 31 which was the purchase date, I was lied to overwhelmed, co-worst, bullied and manipulated by four or more people into purchasing a vehicle from Viking Dodge, Crystal Lake, IL that I could not afford. I came to the dealership just looking, was with my son and his wife.
A salesman (Jaun M. Guardola) rushed up to me on the side walk outside the main door of the dealership, I told him I was just looking for a car and if I was to puchase a vehicle I could afford to pay only around $200.00 per month. He asked me inside and said well lets just run your credit report and see where you are at, and I agreed.
While he was running my report my son came in with his wife and was told to wait outside because the only one allowed in the showroom was the person looking to purchase a vehicle. I was unconfortable alone in the showroom so I went back outside to wait to hear his answer, a couple of other salemens came out and pressured me about what a great deal they could give me. Jaun came back outside shortly after and said great news we can help you. He showed me a a few used older vehicles which were in worse shape then what I already had. I was not interested in them and I told him I did not what a car that I had to worry about not being able to afford repairs on.
He went back inside and to see what else he could do for me. When he came back outside he told me he could get me into a new vechicle for just a little more. I looked around a some more and he kept directing me to a new truck saying he would be able to get me into this for what I could afford. He said go ahead and take it for a test drive, so I did.
When I came back he asked me what I thought. I told him it was ok but not what I was interested in. He asked me to come back into the showroom and see what we could do. Again I was not allowed anyone to come in with me, but Jaun had several other sales people with him. I went in and was shuffled around to several different people and into several different rooms and not sure what was happening.
I was confused, overwhelmed, bullied and just plain worn down. I asked for my son to be allowed to come in to advise me and again I was told no. Before I knew what was going on I was signing paperwork and they left the payment contract for last and what the payments were going to be. Being tired and overwhelmed to get this over with I left with a newno thrills, basic no options pickup truck and a payment of $450.51 with an interest percent of 17% with a final cost of $39,129.52 over a six year period.
The salemen drove home with me in the new truck to collect my trade in (1993 Oldsmobile) which they took in for a down payment and I posted check for $300.00 because I told them I had no money in my account at this time. He said the dealership gave me $2500 for my trade in, site unseen. Even though I told him the car did not run well and had two flat tires. He brought an air tank filled the tires and asked me for the title and left.
After returning home and thinking about what just happened at Viking Dodge that evening I was so upset. The next morning June 1, I returned to the dealership and spoke to Mike the finance or general manager and respectfully asking to cancel the transaction because after considering it all night and not being able to sleep. I knew I was not going to be able to afford the monthly payments. Mike refused the cancellation of the contract and I was told to get the "F" out of the dealsership and I again expressed I did not want the truck that I had purchased the night before and I was actully looking for a car.
I was literally pushed out the door and again was told to get the "F" out of his dealershp and take my "F" ing truck with me and then he threw the paperwork, manual and keys at me. He also said that if I didn't take the truck it was going on my credit report as being repossessed. I left the dealership without the truck, manual or keys. I picked up the paperwork off the ground outside and left. I was not allowed back my trade in or the title to it. Mike did call me later that same evening and said to come back in and he would see what else he could do for me. He offered me a car for another $2,000.00 down payment. If you remember I first gave him a post dated check for $300.00. I told him I could not afford that.
After calling them several times and going back begging to please work this out with me I was finally told the deal was final and they had already been paid for the transaction and there was nothing more they could do for me.
Over the past year the truck was sold at auction and I have $6,000.00 owing to Chrysler Financial on my credit report for a repossessed truck I never took ownership of. Because of them I have not been able to purchase another vehicle since. I reported them to the Crystal lake police department, the Better Business Bureau and the IL Attorney General Consumer Freud Bureau. To this day I have not heard from anyone but the collection agency for which this dedt was turned over to. I will never pay a penny to them even if it means I will never have another new vechicle again.
I have never in my entire life been treated so disrespectfully and I would hope that some day soon everyone in the united states is made aware of the nightmare waiting to happen to them at Viking Dodge, Crystal Lake, IL. Some one please tell me how it is still possible for them to have five stars on the sign. What a out and out LIE to the public.
