Complaint / Review
Meineke
They did not do the work we requested at all and way overcharged for what they did do

We were referred to these people by AAA, of all things, we should file against them too. We complained to them and got no response, we wondered if they were in cahoots with these people.

We took a car in for review BEFORE purchasing. They did not catch half the problems and charged us almost $2,000 for doing basicallly nothing. We keep having to take this car in to resolve the problems they 'fixed' and has cost us almost $5,000 so far.

We wrote to better business, another waste of time, and here is the full text of the BBB response to Meineke Sawgrass Auto's response to our complaint.

Additionally we took the car to another service operation who quoted us $1,000 to fix the problem Meneke had 'fixed' and two others. One of them replaced the harness wires for a total of $129 and another replaced a meter for about the same... Would you take your car to them? We will never go to a Meineke again in our lives, believe me.

My husband is Mr. J, all other names have been removed to protect the guilty

Re: #11030352 mr. J

Dear PR:

This letter is in response to your request for us to reflect our response and position to the claim referenced above. We take this claim very seriously and after speaking with the Service Manager, the Store Manager and the Technician who worked on the vehicle, we respond accordingly:

Mr. J brought the vehicle into Meineke at the above referenced Meineke claiming that he was purchasing the car and he requested a 58 point inspection and also requested that we diagnose the Air Conditioning that was not working. We explained that the inspection was $59.99 and the A/C Diagnostic Service started at $69.99. Mr. J Authorized the services, so we completed the services as quoted. After the 58 point inspection and during the A/C diagnostic service, we found that the car had an electrical problem that was not allowing power to get to the A/C components and advised Mr. J that until we first diagnosed and corrected the electrical problem, at an additional hourly electrical diagnostic charge, we would not be able to precede with the A/C diagnostics. Mr. Glen Jeter authorized the electrical diagnostic charge. After we found the electrical problem that was not allowing power to get to the A/C components, we were able to continue with the diagnoses of the Air Conditioning that was not working and provided the total estimate to Mr. J.

Because Mr. J chose to have us perform part of the work needed, we credited the $59.99 and the A/C Diagnostic Service of $69.99 towards the bill for services that he authorized. Since Mr. J chose not to repair the Air Conditioning portion of the repairs, we could not offer any credit of the electrical diagnostic charge, but advised him if he chose to later come back and have it done, we would work with him on crediting part of electrical diagnostic charge.

After the service and repairs were complete, Mr. Glen Jeter, seemed satisfied, received his Meineke Invoice, paid his bill and we had not heard back from him since. As for J going elsewhere and shopping a lower price or another opinion of how long it could have taken to diagnose the electrical problem, has no relevance to the actual repairs and cost quoted, as most competing facilities will always claim that it could have been done for less to gain new customers.

Additionally, Mr. J claims that elsewhere suggested that the timing belt was sparking, (not possible) and if this was the case and their is any relation to the work performed by Meineke, Mr. J can go to any Meineke Car Care Center to receive warranty work if necessary, as the warranty is shown on the Meineke Limited Nationwide Warranty on the back of the Meineke Invoice.

Mr. J claims that the A/C Diagnostic Service of $69.99 and/or electrical diagnostic service may have served no purpose, but these services allowed Mr. J to know what is wrong with the A/C components and electrical components, so he could receive the quote on the repair from Meineke or elsewhere. Also realize that in many cases the diagnosis is technically harder and more time consuming than the actual repair itself and many service centers will only be competent of providing the repairs that were diagnosed elsewhere.

Mr. J claims that he may not have purchased the car to begin with if he had known about the problems at hand, but he was well aware that he would need to spend at minimum hundreds of dollars to find and correct the problem, before he ever authorized the work and Meineke and/or our inspection process cannot be held responsible for Mr. J decision on purchasing the vehicle, based on his own accord.

Summery

Upon the inspection of any service requested by Mr. J, including the 58 point used vehicle inspection service, we provide an estimate up front prior to any work being done and upon the customer authorizing it. If the customer felt that he did not want the electrical diagnostic, he could have chose to decline the service, however since he authorized the work, any refund is not due or just.

With that said the customer received good and valuable service and retains a Meineke Limited Nationwide Warranty that the customer can use at more than 900 centers nationwide if needed, therefore any refund is denied. The Meineke Limited Nationwide Warranty is shown on the back of the Meineke Invoice

Thank You for your consideration in this matter.
Sincerely,
C J. B
