I went to Meineke on Saturday 9-6-08 at 7:30 am. I told them that the car was hard starting. They told me I needed a diagnostic test, which I knew. The mechanic came to me and told me that my alternator was bad. They wanted $420 for an alternator... So I called the same place that they did and found out that the alternator was only $139. So I picked it up. They installed the new alternator (my old alternator was good) and did the diagnostic. They told me what was wrong. I paid them $217.50 for them to install the alternator ($127.50 for 15 minutes) and the diagnostic test (45 minutes).
I left (11:54am) and my air conditioning was not working. I took it back immediately and the mechanic worked on it for 2 hrs and told me that my air was down 1/2# and he put 2# in it. After the mechanic spent 2 hrs on the car, the air still does not work and the windows and radio dont work either. The $217.50 was refunded to my credit card but I live in South Carolina and I can not drive a car without air and windows that will not go down.
I called the corporate office (9-8-08) and told them what was going on... I called back after I did not receive a call and was told that the owner was denying my claim. I called on 9-10-08 and was told that it was not their fault that the air quit and that since my car is 14 years old that I need to take it somewhere else to get it fixed. Now, I have to take the car somewhere else and pay out more money to fix their mistakes.
I am more than happy to let everyone I work with and meet that Meineke does not have any customer service and that they can screw up your car and they dont have to fix it. Now I had to borrow a car to get me to and from work and school, since its 90 degrees here and there is no way that I can drive a car without air or windows that will not go down.
