I bought a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel from 1st Choice Auto Sales on Friday 03-16. I took the truck home an noticed that the right tail light, turn signal, and brake light were not functioning. I called the companie's "Service Department" and told them of the issue. They set an appointment for the next day 3-17.
As I pulled into their parking lot the power steering pump gave out. I contacted the secretary at the parts counter and told her of my findings. She said they had just put in a brand new power steering pump into the truck 8 days prior and it must be a faulty part. She said we would have to order the part and it will be done on Monday 03-19. I was a little upset at that point, but I knew it had to be fixed.
I called the company on 03-19 and was told that they have yet to recieve the part and there are a lot of people ahead of me, so I would have to wait until tomorrow to get it fixed, which would make it four toatl days of being in the shop.
I called my wife due to me being at work and told her the story. I asked her to check back with them in a hour or two to see if they had recieved the part yet. At approximately 2:00 pm my wife called them and they told her they had accidentally sold the part to someone else and they would have to reorder my part. My wife explained to them that this is unacceptable and they hung up on her.
When I found out about this completely rude behavior I called them back. They told me that my wife doesn't know what she is talking about and that the part I need is just difficult to find and that it will not be in until late that evening. I talked with three different people and they were all rude, short and very decieving. Everyone I talked to told me a different story.
They called me the next morning on 03-20 at approximately 11:30 am and told me my truck was finished. They told me that the mechanic had worked on it for approximately 3.5 hours. I picked up my truck at approximately 4:00 pm and they gave me the keys and NO repair slip. I then drove it home.
The power steering pump was still leaking a little bit and making some noises, so I topped off the fluid the next day and it seemed to run OK for a day or two.
On 03-24 I set up an appointment to have the oil changed at a DODGE DEALER in my area. As I was driving there, my brand new steering pump went out again. I made it to the appointment and told them of the story. I aslo called 1st Choice again and told them what had happened. They said it must be a faulty part and if I bring it in they will fix it for free. I told them I am not going over there to have another problem occur with my vehicle and I am going to a dodge dealer to have all of the problems I found fixed, i.E., No heater, air conditioning, no pwer steering, and passenger door doesn't latch, and that they will pay to have it fixed. The supervisor I was on the phone with becaime very rude and said "You are going somewhere where they charge $180 an hour to do work when my mechanics can do it here", I said yes, then he stated "Fine do whatever you want and call me Monday" and hung up on me.
I asked the mechanics that were changing my oil if they could look at my pump real quick and see what might be wrong, after telling them the story. They came back to me approximately a half hour later and said, they had never replaced the pum, it looked like someone had put some sealant on the old one and called it good. They also stated that the hoses were swiveling in the threading to the pump which is not suppossed to happen. They also said they mixed two different types of anti-freeze in my radiator which could cause problems down the road. I was also informed I need to get the radiator flushed to prevent any further complications, which runs approximately $100.
I have not yet been able to contact the 1st Choice Auto sales yet on my findings and their fradulent repairs.
