My fiancee and I arrived at the dealership at about 5:00pm on Sat. December 31st. The moment we were getting out of the car a guy approached our vehicle. His name was Jose. He was a very nice guy but what happened later had no bearing on how nice he was. We must have asked us 5 questions in a row. As I eventually asked him to stop asking me so many questions because I did not know the car I wanted or the price range. We picked out a 2007 G5. Canary Yellow priced at approx. $15,800. It was a very nice car and we really did like it.
We test drove it and than discussed the way we were going to proceed with our offer on this car. As we went into the dealership office, we were going back and forth on price with the manager, using Jose as the middle man. Eventually the manager did show his face, his name was Jimmy. We eventually agreed on a price and were starting to fill out the paperwork.
My fiancee than had to leave to pick up his car. I was in the dealership by myself, not a good idea! My father would be co-signing for me so I gave Jose all of his info. Excluding place of employment and salary. Jose told me they will not run my father's credit w/o that info. I put my father on the phone with Jimmy the manager. He gave him permission to run his credit and Jimmy said that he would do that after some disagreement with my father. I made the mistake of telling them that I wanted my payments to be under $ 300/month. I wanted to know what they were offering as a financing deal on new cars. Jimmy told me that the lowest percent they are offering is 7.9% for 60 mo.
So here we are, about to run my father's credit when I tell my dad that they lowest % is 7.9% they will give if we have good credit. My father wanted to speak with Jimmy again about the interest rate he quoted us at being the lowest rate they were offering my dad and Jimmy got into an argument over the phone and Jimmy seemed to be yelling at my father. He handed the phone back over to me.
When I got off the phone with my dad Jimmy called me into an office. Jose was standing outside the office. Jimmy started to get all flusted and started to yell at me. He told me that he was having a good day until we came in. He said that he is not going to run my father's credit because he was concerned my dad would sue him, for some unknown reason. I told him to lower his voice and that there was no good reason to be yelling at me, nevertheless a woman. He eventually lowered his voice only to start yelling again. He told me he didn't care if he sold the car anymore because I was a hassle to him. I left the room with tears in my eyes.
After some composure, I told him to run my father's credit and let me know what it comes back at. They said they can get me at $295/mo at 7.9% for 60 mo on a grand total of approx. $17,300. Well you do the math! They were lying! If I did what they said it would be a monthly payment of approx. $334. With that figure they quoted me, the $295/mo, it was 72 mo. I specifically asked Jose multiple times if it was for 60 mo. He kept telling me yes. Well when I figured it out what they were trying to pull I asked to speak with the Finance Manger. This whole time I had yet to see his face. I never spoke with him. All of these numbers were given to me by Jimmy or Jose. When I asked to speak with him Jimmy, Jose and the Finance Manager huddled into an office and spoke. Probably trying to figure out how the hell they were going to tell me that they were lying about the 60mo and they wanted to get me into 72mo. I eventually told them to forget the whole deal and give me copies of the papers.
Oh and by the way, all of this happened after my fiancee left. I was a woman by myself in a dealership full of men.
When I went home later on that night, I did some research. The 7.9% they were quoting me for 60mo was for 72mo. They couldn't get me a $300/mo payment that I wanted. So instead of telling me they couldn't do it, they lied and lied. NEVER GO THERE!!! They lie! And YELL!
