On 11/26/06 I had my car towed to Firestone @ Regency. It failed to start. The service advisor informed me a diagnostic check would be $82. Later another rep quoted my mother $97. After agreeing to that price, I was called later the same day with an estimate of $895 in repairs. I told him that the value of the car was not worth that much. It is a 1992 Toyota Camry. Once the diagnostic was completed rep advised me and my father that they could do the minimal repairs for $391. I agreed and picked up my car Monday afternoon 11/27/06. My boyfriend drove the car back to his job less than two miles away and parked the vehicle. At 9pm the car would not start the same problem it had initially.
I had to tow my car a second time back to Firestone. The following morning 11/28/06 I contacted the repair shop again and at that time they advised my car needed another diagnostic check for an additional $150.00. I asked why I would have to pay for another diagnostic test if I'd already paid for one and the car was never repaired properly. Since Tuesday my father has been in contact with their corporate offices and I have contacted Ken Amaro the consumer advocate form a local News show.
I want my money back or my car repaired.in addition I feel like I should be compensated for the 2nd tow I had to use.
I am a single mother who works and attends school. My funds are very limited.
Can you please advise me of my rights in this matter?
