Tanner Transmission
Kept my car for 13 weeks and refused to lengthen my warranty!

I had Tanner Transmission replace my transmission in my 2002 Ford Escape last November/December. On a trip in July to St. George, UT, the OD/Off light started flashing. I called the Tanner location and talked to Matt. He told me to get the car to them.

I brought the car in on Saturday. They kept my car for exactly nine (9) weeks. I was repeatedly told it would be done, but it never was. I also noticed that my car sat in their back lot with the windows down for three weeks. It was raining at the time. My seats have stains now.

I was repeatedly told that a Ford Escape was a hard transmission to fix. (What does it have - a Formula 1 racing transmission?) At the end of nine weeks, with me constantly complaining after about 6 weeks, I got the car back. We drove it a total of 35 miles and the same thing happened again.

I ended up having to take it back in to Tanner to get fixed. They whined that I didn't bring back in the warranty. It had only been a week! Tanner Transmission, this time, had my car for another 4 weeks and 4 days for a total of 13 weeks and 4 days.

When they had my car for 2 weeks this time, I contacted ATRA. At the time I contacted ATRA, they had said that my transmission needed a solenoid, and were going to put one in and drive it to my house. The day they received their letter from ATRA, that changed from a solenoid to a deeper overhaul. My car was taken to the 1800 So. State location because "they don't know how to fix this at the Redwood location" - according to Jim at 1800 south.

I wrote a letter to Jim and Blaine Tanner telling them of my displeasure at the service that I had received from their company, and telling them they should extend my warranty to a lifetime warranty and also pay me for having to use a company car. These men did not have the common courtesy to even appologize for my inconvenience. I know they received my letter, because I sent it certified, and Jim Tanner signed for it.

If you have any problems "WHATSOEVER" with Tanner Transmission, contact ATRA immediately. ATRA will give them exactly 15 days to fix the situation. (we got our car back on the morning of the 15th day) Also, tell as many people as you can not to go to Tanner Transmission for any reason. This company does not know how to treat their customers. Unfortunately, Tanner has forgotten that it is the customer that keeps them in business. If the customers go away, so does their business.
