The worst transmission repair shop I have ever seen!!! These guys to put it bluntly, SUCK! If you ever think of taking your vehicle to Tanner Transmission, then you might as well just take a whole bunch of money, and flush it down the toilet.
Lets see, where do I begin. The transmission on my 2004 Nissan Maxima was shifting really hard, so I took it to Tanner Transmission at 4931 South Redwood Road to have it looked at. We left it there, and probably 2 hours later they called and told us that it was definitely something internal, and they would have to pull the Transmission to find out exactly what it was. They charge $700 just to pull the transmission, so once they find something wrong, you are really stuck, becasue you are already into it for $700. If I had known then what I know now, I would have paid them the $700 and taken my car. I actually thought about that at first, but the guy at the shop actually told me that they can't legally put the transmission back in the way it was, because it wasn't safe!!! I'm telling you, it was just one lie after another with these guys. They quoted me a little over $4000 to rebuild the transmission, that's right, I said rebuild. I told them to wait I wanted to do some checking. I called the Nissan dealer, and everyone that has ever had any work done to there vehicle know's the dealer charges about twice as much as anyone else. They wanted a little over $2500 for a brand new transmission. I called Tanner back, the guy said he needed to call his boss. He called me back and said the owner of the company said they don't match prices, and the price is the price. Well, like I said, I'm already into it for over $700, so I told them to fix it. I also asked the guy if they did a military discount, and he said he would check. On a $4200 job, he gave me a $50 discount.
It took them almost 2 weeks to rebuilt the transmission and when we got it back, low and behold, it was doing the exact same thing, accept this time, it was worse. After the car warmed up good, you could stand on the gas pedal, and it felt as though you were standing on the gas and the brake pedal at the same time. Again they had to take the transmission out, and he said, oh, the rebuilt torque converter they put in was bad, we'll fix it, no charge, under the warranty. It was a week and a half later before we got the car back. Then I had to take it back several more times for the transmission leaking. They kept blaming it on my power steering was leaking not the transmission. The last time I took it back to this particular shop, they actually smeared silicone sealent on the bottom of the transmission to stop if from leaking. Come to find out they had screwed up putting one of the drive axels back in, and the seal got messed up. I think when all was said and done we took the car back 7 times before it was fixed. These guys are a joke! Do not ever take your car to any tanner transmission!!! These guys will lie, cheat and steal you blind!!!
