My f250 ford truck during the night of 11-08-06 decided that it would lose all it's memory and on the morning of 11-09-06 it would not start.
I had to have someone come to my house to analyze what was wrong with it before it was towed to the local ford dealer.
The cost to have it analyzed was $70.00 and to have it owed because ford would not cover it was $100.00 and then a deductible of $100.00 was charged by the ford dealer since it was a diesel and that is their program for the first 100,000 miles.
Problem-computer did erase itself completely and they tried to say when this happens it is usually due to someone trying to install a chip.
No chip or any other after market performance product has ever been tried on this vehicle.
My question to the dealers service manger was. If this happened when it was parked over night could it happen when someone was driving it and what would happen. His response was I don't think it will. I asked him if he could guarantee that and his response was no.
If it would clear itself during driving a person would not have any brakes, steering and more than likely blow the engine causing undetermined damages to the vehicle and physical harm to the person or persons including death.
Status - dealer downloaded program into computer which is done to all vehicles when they are delivered to the dealer prior to being delivered to a purchaser. Computer was not replaced!
