Wells Fargo Financial Acceptance
Ripoff poor customer service

We sent a check in to Wells Fargo on August 4 for the amount of $339.55

AUGUST 14 (The day we decided to trade in the car)

Before buying the Jeep we called Wells Fargo to find out the balance on our account. We were told that the balance is $12345.91 and that if we were to trade in the Galant that the best thing to do since we already sent the check in to pay for that month was to put a stop payment on the check so that we didn't have to wait 4-6 weeks for us to get a refund. The customer representative told me that she would put a note on our account stating that we are going to put a stop payment on that check and that we were going to do a trade in.

Pacific Honda called Wells Fargo to ask for the payoff request before we got started to filling out the applications. The payoff request that was given to Pacific Honda (Geordie) was $12345.91. Pacific Honda sent them a check for $12345.91, but Wells Fargo claimed they didn't receive it. So Pacific Honda sent a second check in the amount of $12443.02.

I called Wells Fargo and asked if they received the check and which they admitted they did. However, Wells Fargo claims that we owe them a negative balance. I was advised to contact Pacific Honda to resolve this issue. According to Pacific Honda, Wells Fargo has 2 weeks to catch clerical errors. Pacific Honda paid $98 more than they had to. And yet they are harassing us by telling us that we are past due on our account and are not releasing the title of the Galant over to Pacific Honda.

Every time we call Wells Fargo we get transferred numerous times because we get the excuse "I cannot handle this." Today I just got fed up and called them and requested to talk to a manager. I have been transfered numerous times before I got to speak to a manager who ends up yelling at me because she does not want to admit their companies errors!!! Pacific Honda recognizes that Wells Fargo made an error.

So how are we responsible for a current balance on our account when the reps at Wells Fargo told us and Pacific Honda the same pay off acct?

Wouldn't it be Wells Fargo's error since we did what a normal customer would to if they are inquiring about their acct. Since they are in front of their computers wouldn't they be able to tell us how much we owe since we are paying them? When dealing with money especially with a financial institution shouldn't they be keeping track/record of all the payments made and not be assuming how much a customer owes on their account?

As for the check that was sent to Wells Fargo, we put a stop payment on that on August 15th at exactly 11:52am and informed them ahead of time. Wells Fargo tried to cash the check in on August 17th. For the stop payment I had to pay $20 and when Wells Fargo tried to cash it and was not able to they added an extra fee of $15 to the current charge.

The charges on this account is currently increasing.in conclusion, it was their error due to the fact that Wells Fargo provided the wrong payoff information to Pacific Honda. Pacific Honda had to send another payoff check in the amount of $12443.02 due to the first one not being received. Which was $98 more then what Pacific Honda had to pay. As a result, Pacific Honda called to request another quote due to the fact they wanted to be accurate and yet Wells Fargo still made that same error of giving them the wrong payoff amount. After we told Wells Fargo not to cash the check and add the payment to the quote.

Everyone be careful and highly consider not doing business with Wells Fargo Acceptance. They play phone tag and phone games and try to twist your words around. I am convinced that they are just like another MCI worldcom.
