Misdiagnosed vibration as transmission and then charged me to rebuild it. When Vibration wasn't fixed they refused to fix Problem without more Money

My 1992 Ford Ranger had a problem in that it had a vibration/shake starting about 10mph to 25mph then it smoothes out. I took it to a so called expert "Aamco transmissions". After agreeing to a "diagnostic service" they said the transmission would need rebuilt which would be $1750.8/16/06

After I called around we negotiated a price of $1350 for the transmissions service and they said it would be done friday 8/18/06. They called friday and said it was done, and I went to pick it up and once I paid he (Randy) said there was a note saying that it still shakes. I said I will try it out and bring it back if I feel the repair was not suitable. After driving the truck it was doing the exact shake it did on wednesday when I brought the truck in for repair. I returned the truck Saturday morning 8/19/06 and Randy said they will look at it.

I recieved a call wed. 8/23/06 stating they "thought" it was the drive shaft needed balancing, and that it would be an additional $200-$400 to fix that. At this point I stated that they mis-diagnosed my problem and they needed to fix the problem and not continue guessing. They didn't contact me at all, and I called Saturday 8/26/06, and they said they weren't going to work on the vehicle until I agreed to pay more money.

Monday 8/28/06 I tried to reason my situation with the business, and they said they weren't going to work on it unless I agreed to pay more money. I felt this was unfair since they had mis-diagnosed the problem. At this point I took the truck to "midas" and they fixed the vibration in 3 hours for $319.00 Also it states on the drive shaft "this drive-shaft cannot be balanced" which shows that they had no clue what they were doing.

Prior to diagnosing the transmission as the problem for the vibration the mechanic Nathan spoke with me and I told him I had put a drop of brake fluid in the transmission to fix a leak. I believe he made a rash decision to fix the transmission at this point based on my drop of brake fluid without investigating the real reason for the vibration.

At this point I have filed a BBB report and recieved not response from the company. I have not gone to small claims yet, but I may before its all over with.
