A 1991 vw jetta was taken in for the waterpump to be replaced, and new brake pads installed. I realized immediatly that I would have to pay close attention when we were quoted prices for brake parts. Canadian tire only quoted us with their premium brake parts, when a much cheaper and just as good standard line was available. During the coarse of the repair we recieved the dreaded phone call saying we needed a timing belt, and that they could simply replace it as it neede to be removed to gain acess to the waterpump, we agreed.
When we arived at canadian tire to get our car it wouldn, t start, the timing belt was floping around and barely in place, not to mention the timing was off, and the cases now had crackes in them due to over tourquing. When confronted with these problems all Canadian Tire would due is tighten the timing belt, the damaged case was left for me to fix due to a sloppy mechanic.
This work left my vehicle in a unsafe state and I refused to drive in it. This is not the only incident with Canadian tire I have had but this did drive me to make this complaint.
