JD Byrider
Aka CNAC Cheats, scammers, utter ripoffs, sold me a lemon

In 2001 I bought a 1996 Plymouth Neon from the JD Byrider that used to be in Seymour, IN. The store has since closed, but only that one, unfortunately CNAC and JD Byrider still exist. Anyway, the neon I bought was low mileage for its year, having only 32k on the odometer. A week after I bought the car (also gought 12 month or 12k mile warranty) the transmission went out, had no reverse at all, could put the gear selector in Neutral, and it would drop into gear.

Found out that the problem was that the rear seal on the trans wasnt just bad, it wasnt even there, talk about "inspected and certified". I called the store and told them the issue, and that it needed to be towed in for repairs, no way I could drive it, well the sales-person I spoke to told me that there was noway they could tow it because the warranty did not cover tow bills, and hung up on me. I called back and told them I wanted to speak to the store manager, when I spoke to him, he was very sympathetic to my problem and offerd to have the corporate truck tow my vehicle, but it would take a week because they also use it to repo vehicles.

I agreed and waited the week, no one ever came. I called back the store manager and told him, he said it would be another week. Finally a week later my vehicle was towed in. I thought that since my 30 day period on the lemon law wasnt up that the problem would be fixed at no cost to me, boy was I wrong. Getting them to honor the warranty was like pulling teeth from a crocodile, and even still, I had to pay a $100 deductible on it. I was told the transmission had been completely rebuilt and was fine. Within 6 months I started experiencing more trans trouble. Took it too a mechanic friend, he told me the issue, but said it would be ok to drive for a while, but that it needed to be rebuilt as soon as I could afford it.

I said f*k it and kept driving it, lasted me another 6 months and the trans finally grenaded, i.E. It exploded on me whilst driving down the road, but it did get back home with a hole all the way through the trans, and second gear laying on the road behind me. Even still, a trans that was rebuilt should have lasted more than a year. Even before that happened though, I had to re-work the heads on the car, couldnt use the waranty because the mileage was over on it.

The morons that are there "certified technicians" had cross-threaded EVERY spark plug, granted theres only 4 of them, but ALL of them were cross threaded. One of the plugs finally gave way and blew strait out the head taking all the threads with it, that being the reason the heads were re-worked. I discovered that the other 3 were cross threaded while re-working the heads. Luckily for me my now fiance helped me pay the car off, and I got a vehicle from an actual car lot, and a real auto loan from a real bank, no CNAC bs. All in all, avoid this company at aLL costs, buy a bicycle and deal with it before going to these con-artists. They are rude, threatened to repo my car for being 2 days late on payment more than once, fortunately I live on provate property and warrant from the sherrifs department was needed to enter and the sherrifes department wouldnt issue one for being onle 2 days late on a car payment. All in all, a horrible company selling even worse vehicles.
