Monro Muffler ripoff Brake Resurfaced rotors below discard, tried to sell me calipers to stop squeak

On February 18 I took my car to Treadquarters in Orangeburg-a Monro Muffler/Brake Franchise. They had advertised a free tire rotation and brake check. I had been having to press the brake down further to stop. No squealing or squeaking when I did. They replaced the brakepads and resurfaced the rotor (s). I paid them $138.48. I heard a squeaking noise coming from both front tires after I left. It was not making any noise before they fixed them so I took it back the same day and told the manager they were making noise. The manager told a guy who worked there to ride with me to listen to the noise. He said the noise was normal when the rotors had been turned. To drive the car for a while and the noise would stop.

Two weeks later it had not stopped. March 4 I took it back in to have the squeaky noise checked and was told by the owner "to stop the noise" I would need two new rotors because they didn't meet "specs" (at a cost of $219.98) and two new caliphers (at a cost of $352.76) because the noise I was hearing was from the caliphers rubbing against something. I asked him what I had paid for two weeks earlier and asked if the car was safe to drive. The owner generously decided not to charge me for the rotors. Said I would just have to pay for the calipers. On the invoice he gave me it was noted "customer declined rotors". No mention of the calipers I had also declined.

A friend of mine suggested I let another brake specialist check it to see what I really needed. He said I needed to replace the rotors because one was at discard. He said nothing about calipers.

Called Monro Headquarters—told the lady what happened at TQ. Also told her I had taken car to another brake specialist who checked it and said the rotors needed to be replaced because one was at discard. The bad rotor was what was causing the squeaking. She checked the invoice from the first visit and said to send them a copy of the receipt after I had the rotors replaced and she would refund the $46 I paid for resurfacing. They would not pay for the new rotors.

Had rotors replaced at AJ's Auto Care. No more squeak!
