Ok here's what happened to me I took my 1997 Ford Thunderbird in to have new rear rotors and pads put on. I got that done for extremely high rate of over $250 but with lifetime pads and 1 year rotor warranty. The day I left I noticed a noise lightly coming from the new area. A few days maybe 2 went buy and the noise stayed so I returned and informed the store manager of what was going on so he said no problem we'll take a look and see what we can find. Well the mechanics took it for a ride came back put it on the rack took the tires off stared for a little while got the boss out then he came and got me. I was showed quickly there was no problems as the pads were said to look fine and that the noise was because I only bought semi mettalic pads and not the upgraded premium ceramic pads. So again I take this as truth and leave well they said the sound would go away after driving for a few weeks as the shine on the pads was removed by use. The sound never went a way but actually got worse so back to the shop again. Same scenery they test they look they say its fine and give me same reason. I am annoyed question this idea and ask why no mettalic pads I ever had have done this before so I get the add on well the new rotors are still very smooth which just increses the noise volume but the pads are fine and lots of plenty good miles to go. Ok I drive on them having this noise just getting worst and worst. One day about a few months later the brakes sink and there nothing but grinding from the back. I go into Merlins new manager new mechanics and tell them aboutr what had been going on and they said they'd take a look for me. This time they dont even take it for a test drive they just back up hear the grinding pull it in and inspect it. The manager comes back and takes me out and says my pads are gone and the rotors are trashed. I asked how this happened since it hadn t been that long or that many miles. He ssy he doesnt know but I need everything replaced again. I tell him about my warranty info and he checks. He comes up with this explanation: Ok the pads are covered minus install labor but the rotors were on me as the pads caused failure to the rotors which is not there reponsibility as pasrt failure caused buy other parts voids warranty. I explain that it was thier faulty pads that ate my warranty rotors. After arguing the point he says either pay or go away. I in frustration told he give me my new set of pads from the warranty and I would go else where. He tells me fines gets my a set of pads and sends me off. No apologies no understanding just give us more money for what you already paid for and we'll lube you up and bend you over again. This has made me furious and I want everyone to be aware of this scam and shoddy non stand by workmanship. I dont know what else to do but get the word out on here and write the BBB or maybe inform the corporate office not that they care... Merlins sucks!!!
